慶賀市長惠特曼就職週年

德州休斯敦市長惠特曼出任市長已屆滿週年,這位精力充沛勤政愛民的市長為休斯敦帶來了生機和活力。

早在三年前他宣佈要角遂市長之後,他就勤走基層並屢次前來國際區訪晤社區人士,並對國際區近年來之發展表示高度讃揚。

市長最主要之政見就是改善治安,他常說如果我們沒有良好之治安環境,哪來的經濟發展和繁榮。

當他上任之後首要任務就是調整警力加強治安,並且經常和警察出巡，實地了解治安情況,修路改道對於市容之整治更是不遺余力,並且啟動擴建布朗會議中心將全面改變整𠆤市區之面貌。

市長非常重視族群和諧並派任超過十位之亞裔人士出任新政府之重要職位,他是有史以來最重視各族裔之市長。

我們非常感謝他對市政之盡心盡力,為市民之福祉帶來極大之貢獻。

Celebrating Mayor Whitmire's Inauguration Anniversary

We recently have celebrated the anniversary of Mayor Whitmire's term of office as Houston's mayor. This energetic, diligent and loving mayor has brought respect and vitality back to the City of Houston.
As early as three years ago, after Whitmire announced that he wanted to be the Mayor of Houston, he came to our community and visited many people in the area and ever since, he has highly praised the International District in recent years.
The Mayor‘s main focusnow remains to improve the public safety. He often says that, "If we don't have a safe community, where will economic developments and prosperity come from?

When he first took office, his first task was to address the police force issues and to strengthen public security. He often went into the field with police personnel on the job to learn about the public security situation. He spared no effort to repair roads and make changes to improve the cityscape. Future plans now include building a new convention district that will comprehensively change the face of the whole downtown urban area.

The Mayor attaches great importance to ethnic harmony and has appointed many Asians to important positions in the city government.

We are very grateful to Mayor Whitmire for all of his hard work and great contributions to the city as well as to our ethnic community.
