休斯敦市政府正在推動新的都更大計劃

市長惠特曼自今年元月上任以來,除了全面整頓治安工作之外,同時對於市政建設有著空前之大計劃，就是大力擴充目前之布朗會議中心,希望在二0二八年前完工。

在休斯敦市政府所屬之第一機構日前召開之委員會議中已經和開發商恆斯公司簽約，立即展開設計及興建工作。該公司發言人稍後表示我們非常榮幸能夠為這項市政改建工作盡力,將協助休斯敦第一機構這項二十億之都更計劃。這項都更經費是由現任市長惠特曼在其州參議員任內所爭取到,這對本市之市政建設有極大助益.

這項佔地數十畝將籌建新的會議中心及文化娛樂場所,和現存已經使用了三十七年之布朗會議中心相連接,為休斯敦樹立新的地標，進一步繁榮地方經濟.

做為休斯敦第一機構之委員之一,我們非常重視各界對這項都更之看法,希望在十二月初在國際貿易中心舉行座談會聽取大家之建言。

Mayor Whitmire Has A New Metropolitan Plan

Since Mayor Whitmire took office in January of this year, in addition to comprehensively pursuing his public safety project, the mayor also has an unprecedented new plan for the city, which is to vigorously expand the current George R. Brown Convention Center into a new convention district.

The comprehensive renovation project    of downtown Houston‘s George R. Brown Convention Center will be handled 

by Hines Development Company. Houstonfirst Corporation will oversee 

the project.

For 37 years, the GRB has been the crown jewel of Houston's convention centers, but the old building is definitely in need of some updating.

The new plan will include a new convention center and a cultural entertainment venue which will be connected to the existing George R. Brown Convention Center.

As one of the board members of Houstonfirst, I am very proud to participate in this great project.
