我們當之無愧

在中美關係繼續惡化之時，美國國會及一些保守派份子正在推動反對中國大陸之各種抵制行動，包括德州議會正在重啟反華之許多議案。

華人自移民美國一百多年来，我們的前輩曾經為美國西部修建铁路，翻山越嶺犧牲性命賺取非常微薄之苦力錢，當排華案廢除之後，才有許多知識份子及留學生來到美洲大陸真正成為移民之一份子，百年之後我們中的许多人在社會上都会出人頭地,成為社會繁榮進步之中堅份子。

二十年来我身為休斯敦國際區主席一職，共有十一位常務理事共同推動國際區之開發工作。理事中包括非裔、亞裔、拉丁裔及白人，我們相處融洽,形如手足,把國際區塑造成休斯敦經濟之楷模。

我們堅信對這塊土地之熱愛,對於那些挑起種族仇恨歧視和隔閡之政客,令人不齒。我常說,今天我們就是美國社會之主流,對國家及社區之貢獻當之無愧。

We Deserve Better

As Sino-U.S. relations continue to deteriorate, the U.S. Congress and some conservatives are promoting various boycotts against China right now including in the Texas Senate where they are now starting to reconsider many anti-China bills.
Chinese people have been immigrating into the United States for more than one hundred years. Our predecessors once built railroads for the U.S. expansion ìnto the western states and sacrificed their lives to earn very little money. After the anti-Chinese bills in the U.S. were abolished, many intellectuals and students came to the American continent to truly become a part of society and to contribute real strength to the prosperity of the nation.

For 20 years, I have been the Chairman of the Houston International District. A total of 11 board members jointly promote the development of the district. Our membership includes Latino, Black, Asian and White representation. We get along well and strive to shape the International District into a role model for Houston’s economy.

We firmly believe in our love for this land, and it is shameful for those politicians who provoke racial hatred, discrimination and separation. I often say that today we are the mainstream of this society, and our contributions to the community are well-documented and well-deserved.
