休斯敦市政府正在推动新的都更大计划

市长惠特曼自今年元月上任以来,除了全面整顿治安工作之外,同时对於市政建设有着空前之大计划，就是大力扩充目前之布朗会议中心,希望在二0二八年前完工。

在休斯敦市政府所属之第一机构日前召开之委员会议中已经和开发商恆斯公司签约，立即展开设计及兴建工作。该公司发言人稍后表示我们非常荣幸能够為这项市政改建工作尽力,将协助休斯敦第一机构这项二十亿之都更计划。这项都更经费是由现任市长惠特曼在其州参议员任内所争取到,这对本市之市政建设有极大助益.

这项佔地数十亩将筹建新的会议中心及文化娱乐场所,和现存已经使用了三十七年之布朗会议中心相连接,為休斯敦树立新的地标，进一步繁荣地方经济.

做為休斯敦第一机构之委员之一,我们非常重视各界对这项都更之看法,希望在十二月初在国际贸易中心举行座谈会听取大家之建言。

Mayor Whitmire Has A New Metropolitan Plan

Since Mayor Whitmire took office in January of this year, in addition to comprehensively pursuing his public safety project, the mayor also has an unprecedented new plan for the city, which is to vigorously expand the current George R. Brown Convention Center into a new convention district.

The comprehensive renovation project    of downtown Houston‘s George R. Brown Convention Center will be handled 

by Hines Development Company. Houstonfirst Corporation will oversee 

the project.

For 37 years, the GRB has been the crown jewel of Houston's convention centers, but the old building is definitely in need of some updating.

The new plan will include a new convention center and a cultural entertainment venue which will be connected to the existing George R. Brown Convention Center.

As one of the board members of Houstonfirst, I am very proud to participate in this great project.
